Gene Wilder, born Jerome Silberman, was an American actor, director, producer, screenwriter, singer-songwriter, and author. He was a well-known actor who won an Oscar for his first significant film performance in The Producers and as Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
