Remembered for his work in early 20th-century silent films, he most famously appeared as boxer Gale Galen in the popular Fighting Blood movie series. He played the villainous half-sibling of John Barrymore‘s character in the 1926 movie The Sea Beast. Early in his career, he appeared in numerous Mack Sennett-directed features, including a popular 1920 silent romance titled Love, Honor, and Behave.

George O’Hara began his acting career as a performer for Mack Sennett, an early Hollywood filmmaker. Sennett was immediately taken with the attractive, cleft-chinned young actor and regarded O’Hara as a potential matinee idol. Sennett paired O’Hara opposite famed silent film actress Marie Prevost in the commercially successful 1920 romantic film Love, Honor, and Behave, which launched her acting career.
With Sennett’s guidance, O’Hara began working behind the camera in 1921. He was an associate producer on Ben Turpin’s picture A Small Town Idol and afterward worked in the film industry as a continuity and title writer in the 1920s.
