Holt performed on an Oklahoma City radio station when she was six years old. When she was 10 years old, she began performing with bandleader Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys.
She won several talent and beauty pageants and had several cameos in 1950s television programs and films.
After witnessing Holt perform at a singers’ workshop at Studio One in Los Angeles in July 1978, Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin, and Dinah Shore asked him to take part in their television talk shows.

The 96-year-old Georgia Holt’s demise has been confirmed by Cher. The 76-year-old artist announced the death of his mother on Twitter by writing “Mom is gone” and posting an emoji of a sad face.
Cher stated in September that Holt had chronic health issues and had been admitted to the hospital with pneumonia.
The next day, Cher thanked her fans for their prayers and added that for her mother, “home is the best medicine” and that “she’s doing better.” Supporters of the singer and her mother shared their sorrow on social media.
Unfortunately, Cher has remained silent on the facts of Georgia Holt’s passing; this may be because she currently needs some solitude.

Georgia Holt’s husband and genealogy
Holt had six marriages, all of which ended in divorce. She gave birth to Cher with her first husband, John Sarkisian, whom she divorced once before being remarried for a fifth time 19 years later.
She later wed actor John Southall, and their second child was actress Georganne LaPierre. Georganne was wed to Michael Madsen in the 1980s.
Cher and Georganne were legally adopted by Gilbert Hartmann LaPierre, a bank manager Holt wed in 1961, who gave them the last name LaPierre.
Holt had two grandchildren—Chaz Bono and Elijah Blue Allman—through Cher. Holt and Craig Spencer dated from 1976 until her death.
