“Grown & Gospel” Is Set To Premiere On We TV

Grown & Gospel

Grown & Gospel premieres on We TV on Thursday, March 16 at 9 p.m. ET. The six episodes will be released on Thursdays and will be available on AMC’s streaming service, ALLBLK, on Mondays.

The series will follow six “career-driven childhood pals” as they seek their own success in the Detroit church scene away from the influence of their well-known parents. The new series will also include many battles between the ensemble members, as well as some heartbreaking moments.

Grown & Gospel will follow six competitors as they try to establish a name for themselves in the music industry

Grown & Gospel is a documentary about six close friends who grew up in the Gospel music community and learned about it from their famous parents. The main characters on the show are Breeann “Bree” Hammond, J. Brooks, Tasha Page-Lockhart, Elijah Connor, Shana Wilson-Williams, and Nikkia Cole-Beach.

The Grown & Gospel teaser foreshadows a lot of drama, as one of the singers admits to having an affair. While performing elsewhere, a male artist passed out on stage. Meanwhile, one of the ensemble members says in the background that they will forge their own professional path as the next generation while grieving.

We TV describes Mature & Christian as follows:

“Navigating the muddy waterways of the music business and striving to emerge from the clouds of their famous parents…this close-knit group struggles with their rigid parenting and high standards as they strive to be the new generation of Gospel. As they work to establish a reputation in the music industry and balance personal relationships with professional goals, hearts are broken and dark secrets are revealed.”

Grown & Gospel is produced by Scott Shatsky and Carlos King. Lauren Gellert, Angela Dugan of Kingdom Reign Productions, Ashley McFarlin, Kat Uyenco, and Nisa Ahmad serve as executive producers.

Meet the members of the Grown & Gospel ensemble

1) Breeann “Bree” Hammond

Fred Hammond’s daughter, Breeann Hammond, is a gospel legend. She took a break from the Christian business and has returned with a now-or-never attitude. She intends to rejoin her friends and become more involved in the music community.

2) John Brooks

J. Brooks is the son of “Commissioned” worship ensemble co-founder Pastor Michael Brooks. He got his first church job when he was 14 and has since been a traveling singer and composer. “Music creates the category, not the other way around,” he believes. Brooks was the first person Bree contacted after returning to Detroit, and he may be able to assist her in reuniting with the group.

3) Tasha Page-Lockhart

Tasha Page Brooks is the daughter of Lisa Page Brooks, who founded the modern gospel group “Witness.” Lockhart is the winner of BET’s Sunday Best and is looking to advance in her career. She is divorcing her husband and has two children. She may also face a disturbing truth from her past that will have an impact on her life.

4) Isaac Connor

Elijah Connor is the son of a minister, not a singer. He is forging his own path in the music industry, adhering to the adage “Seek forgiveness, not approval.” His parents are upset because he did not complete his education and chose a different path than religion.

5) Nikkia Cole-Beach

Nikkia Clark Cole is the daughter of Dorinda Clark Cole, the lead singer of The Clark Sisters. She was a troubled child who is now juggling a hectic life with her children, working as the Clark Sisters’ tour manager, and managing the family on her own because her spouse is in prison. She wishes to “avoid her history’s wrath.”

6) Shana Wilson-Williams

Shana is a mother of two and the daughter of praise leader parents who has been involved in the church for over 30 years. Despite being the conductor of the chorus, she feels like an outsider in the Christian music industry and will have to work even harder without any “coattails to ride.” Every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, Mature & Gospel, a six-episode series, airs.
