After three years had passed since Josef’s death, they were found guilty; an autopsy revealed that he had suffered both acute and ongoing maltreatment and died as a result of forcible trauma to the brain.

Josef’s parents acknowledged that it was an accident, but they kept this information from the police for a long time, and as a result, they were given a 30-year term.

Since Josef’s passing, the church has received attention due to the fact that his parents were active members.

The inquiry was conducted by Georgia and Tennessee law enforcement after Josef’s passing.

Following the investigation, it was revealed that only the Smiths had abused children; no church members had been accused in connection with the incident.

According to N.B.C. news, no evidence was discovered against the church as a result of the case involving the eight-year-old boy.

The church member’s website declares the Smiths’ innocence and accuses former church members of making up allegations of child abuse against the pair.
