According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, Hadasa Karavanibozak, 48, is accused of hate crime assault, negligent endangerment, and harassment in connection with the 7 November incident at Edmonds Playground on DeKalb Ave. in Fort Greene.

Karavanibozak Hadasa Taken into Arrest and Accused

After a disturbing event at Edmonds Playground in Fort Greene, Hadasa Karavanibozak was arrested.

The community has made a strong effort to give up. The lady who threw hot coffee at a guy at a Brooklyn playground has finally turned herself in.

Indian in origin, Ashish Prashar is not Palestinian. Because of the scarf he was wearing, Karavanibozak assumed he was a Muslim.

A cellphone video that the police published purportedly shows a woman cursing and hurling hot coffee at a forty-year-old man with a Palestinian scarf and his little kid at a playground.

After her photograph appeared on several wanted posters across her block on Grand Army Plaza, Karavanibozak turned herself in.

Her charges turned into divisive comments that called Prashar names and made deplorable claims about his upbringing.

Raised in London, Prashar is of Indian origin. He was wearing the keffiyeh, the traditional headscarf worn by males in Palestine.

“My people are all dogs,” she murmured. “Are you aware that children are burned by your people?” “I hope someone burns your baby in an oven,” Prashar remarked.

When Prashar took out his phone to record the event, the lady misplaced it. The dad snatched up his kid and sprinted toward them, and she threw her phone and a cup of hot coffee at them.

Thankfully, Prashar and his kid came out of this uncomfortable meeting unscathed.

It’s also important to stress that Prashar himself made it very evident that Karavanibozak’s conduct did not reflect the views of the larger Jewish community.

Hadasa Karvanibozak: Where Is She Now? Is She Currently Arrested?

Regarding Karavanibozak’s legal standing after the arrest, things are still unclear.

The Brooklyn Criminal Court scheduled her arraignment, but no information has surfaced on her present state of incarceration or possible release on bond.

Karavanibozak never made any public remarks after her detention, so it’s unknown where she is now—in New York or back in California.

In New York, the gravity of the underlying violation determines how harsh the sanctions are for hate crimes.

Section 485.051 of the New York Penal Law outlines the requirements for hate crimes and increases the severity of the penalties in cases when the offense is motivated by prejudices against a certain race, religion, gender, or other attribute.

The charges are elevated to a higher class of criminal than the original offense due to these offenses’ increased punishments.

This tragedy serves as a reminder of the seriousness of hate crimes and the associated legal consequences.

The court system will probably work through this case’s complications to decide what legal actions and punishments would be appropriate given New York’s hate crime legislation.
