The concert was ultimately canceled because the conditions became untenable. Excited Halsey supporters had already packed the Merriweather Post Pavilion well before the show began, generating a complete uproar as the rain unexpectedly flooded the entire venue.
In response to the onset of storms in the Maryland region, the 19,000-person capacity facility began to fill to capacity. The region of Maryland was already under a flood and tornado watch, so concert organizers anticipated a temporary delay.
Halsey writes,
“I don’t even know what to say” in regards to the incident.
The bleachers at the venue where the performance was scheduled were inundated. Fans waited in vain for the singer, whose scheduled arrival time was 7 p.m.
However, poor weather led to the program’s postponement and final cancellation. Following the commotion, Halsey addressed her followers and stated that she desired to perform “beyond all else” that evening.
In a series of tweets, she also expresses her knowledge and disappointment that the venue was unable to manage the matter and that her event will now be hosted elsewhere.
She declared:
“I’d like to emphasize that I am really dissatisfied with the venue’s performance tonight, and my rescheduled date will take place elsewhere. I assure you I have heard you loud and clear.”
Fans share images of the flooded arena
As the concert was canceled due to poor weather, images from inside the venue showed the audience being swept away by floodwaters. In other films, a member of the team can be seen kicking a squirrel.
This event also angered numerous folks. On stage, a member of Halsey’s team severely kicked a squirrel that was attempting to flee ankle-deep water but was brutally kicked by the squirrel.
The entire stadium can be seen drenched with water in fan-shot footage of the artist’s performance. The situation deteriorated when the arena was filled with dissatisfied fans who were forced to leave.
While some fans applauded the performer’s decision to reschedule and prioritize her followers’ safety, others wanted a refund.
The capacity of the arena was 19,000 seats, and the amphitheater was totally filled. Some fans went extensive distances, while others crossed international borders. As a result, situations such as this diminish the supporters’ morale.
Subsequently, Halsey went live on Instagram to address the issue with her followers. During the Instagram live session, she also mentioned that she was in communication with meteorological specialists, but that she had no control over the horrible weather.
She also said that the concert will be rescheduled at a different location; the team will soon share additional details.
