Before penning his debut book, 1984 graduate Harlan Coben worked for his grandfather’s travel agency. At the age of 26, he released Play Dead in 1990, and then Miracle Cure in 1991. After that, Coben began writing a series of suspense novels featuring Myron Bolitar, a former basketball player turned sports agent who looks into murders involving his clients.

In 2006, a French movie based on his standalone thriller Tells No One was released. In the intervening years, he has written nine further stand-alone books, with Hold Tight debuting at the top of the New York Times Best Seller list. Coben wrote a brief novel on his deceased father in 2003, and The New York Times published it.

Additionally, he has published essays for Bloomberg Views and Parade Magazine. In 1996, Coben won the Anthony Award for “Best Paperback Original” for his work on the Myron Bolitar series. In 1997, Fade Away won the Shamus Award and the Edgar Award.

Tell No One was nominated for numerous awards in 2002, and Live Wire earned a crime fiction award in 2010. Back Spin won the Barry Award in 1998. In 2023, an award nomination was made for his novel Win’s Japanese Translation.
