As It Was by Harry Styles has held the top spot on the US singles chart for the longest amount of time by a British musician.
The song has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a record-breaking 15 weeks, shattering the previous mark shared by Mark Ronson and Sir Elton John.
Their respective top-charting singles, Uptown Funk and Candle In The Wind, each spent 14 weeks there.
With his movie Don’t Worry Darling, Styles is present atop the US box office rankings.
As It Was has spent 15 weeks at the top of the singles charts, making it the single artist with the fourth-longest-running number one in US chart history.
Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road currently hold the record with 19 weeks. Each song ruled for 16 weeks: Despacito by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber, and One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men.
Between April and June, As It Was spent ten weeks at the top of the UK charts.
The former member of One Direction has joined a select group of musicians who have topped both the music and box office charts at the same time, including Eminem and Prince.
Fans continued to visit theaters despite the picture Don’t Worry Darling, which was directed by Styles’ partner Olivia Wilde.
The film, which also stars Chris Pine and Florence Pugh, earned a respectable $19.2 million (£17.7 million) in its first weekend in North America.
