Hayley Williams Explains That Paramore “Needed A Break To Discover Our Identity”

Hayley Williams

According to singer Hayley Williams, the title was influenced by current events. The band Paramore has returned with a new single and album, both titled This Is Why, after a four-year absence.

“This is why we can’t have good things,” I usually say whenever I find it difficult to believe what is happening, whether it concerns the planet, politics, or social issues.

The 33-year-old claims the respite gave her and the group time to contemplate their surroundings.

She said on Radio 1’s Future Sounds with Clara Amfo, “We all truly needed it to find our identity apart from Paramore and all the public projection we have in our life.

“I discovered just how introverted I am.”

Hayley, Taylor York on guitar and Zac Farro on drums will perform live for the first time in more than four years this weekend.

Hayley claims that the period of Covid, when a large portion of the globe was confined within, enabled her to rediscover her roots.

She claims that she wouldn’t have “slowed down” or spent more time with her family.

“I was delighted we were home because we got to be a part of it as citizens, as friends, as a daughter, as a sister, and it wasn’t really about Paramore,” said the family.

None of us anticipated being pushed inside.

The band continued to think about their fans and, more importantly, work on their album during their time apart and in solitude.

It was such a ridiculously tragic moment, in my opinion, if you talk to anyone, Hayley says.

The entire time we were composing the entire record, I kept thinking about the people and the concerts.

And the UK was first in their thoughts.

“Our relationships with our fans all across the world are just so awesome. However, the UK and the bands that come from there have a particularly unique history.

“We were digging out our earliest European influences. Every time I would picture myself performing, it was at a festival in the UK or front of a throng in a city like Manchester.

What about a national tour in 2023? “It won’t be long,” she teases.

She states,

“We already have the plan.”

“And I am eager for people to discover our opponents. Simply said, I can’t wait to return there.
