McCroy – now OBE – was born on August 17, 1968, in Paddington, London, England, to Iain McCrory, a Scottish diplomat from Glasgow, and Anne, a Welshwoman.
McCroy has two younger brothers and sisters. Helen went to Queenswood School and then spent a year in Italy after graduating. Then, she went to England and enrolled in acting classes at the Drama Centre in London.

Helen McCroy- Professional Career
She began her stage career in 1990, when she was cast as Gwendolen Fairfax in Oscar Wilde’s comedy “The Importance of Being Earnest.” In the same year, she appeared in a few additional plays, including “Macbeth,” and in 1991, she played Lydia Bennet in the drama “Pride and Prejudice.” McCroy has been active in theaters to the present day, making a number of well-known appearances which we shall discuss later. McCroy began auditioning for on-screen parts and made her debut in the TV series “Full Stretch” in 1993.
She continued to play minor roles and made her cinematic debut as Lola in the thriller film “Uncovered” (1994), as well as in the horror-drama film “Interview with the Vampire,” starring Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Antonio Banderas. Three years later, Helen co-starred with John Hannah and Jason Flemyng in the comedy-crime picture “The James Gang” (1987).
Helen’s new millennium began with a role in the award-winning comedy film “Hotel Splendide” (2000), starring Toni Collette, Daniel Craig, and Katrin Cartlidge, followed by Rose Fitzgerald in the TV series “North Square” (2000), and in 2003, she appeared in all four episodes of the Primetime Emmy Award-nominated drama series “The Last King.”
She played Casanova’s mother in the adventure comedy-drama film “Casanova,” starring Heath Ledger and Sienna Miller, two years later.

Helen was gradually making her way in Hollywood, and one of her most notable parts occurred in 2009, when she was cast as Narcissa Malfoy in the fantasy adventure drama film “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” She reprised her role in two further films in the series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” (2010) and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” (2012).
