Helena Ramsay was killed on her father’s birthday. She was incredibly liked and perhaps more so by others. Helena had a sweet, friendly temperament that brought out the best in everyone she knew, despite her tendency to be somewhat quiet. She was tireless in her pursuit of academic excellence.
After learning of her daughter’s passing, Helena Ramsay’s mother claimed she felt unable to function. Anne and Vinnie spoke out in front of the public for the first time two years after the tragedy. Helena, according to Anne, was a born leader who would have excelled at the UN.
Helena’s distraught mother continued, “After high school, she plans to attend Florida State University or go abroad to study in London.”
Ann stated:
She was developing and would have become a great leader. She was able to accomplish anything because of her logical reasoning and argumentation skills Anne also discussed Helena’s ambition to see the Amazon and her bashful personality.
Her greatest desire was to visit the Amazon rainforest in Brazil and witness the pink dolphins there. She was initially quite reserved and shy, but as she got to know you, you could tell she had a wicked sense of humor.
A shining example of Helena’s kind heart was her participation in an Orlando performance in support of the Pulse mass shooting victims and survivors. She urged her pal to get a book to shield herself from the gunfire in her final moments. Although Vinnie and Anne claimed they lacked the energy to do so, the family had received numerous condolence cards, according to Anne. She uttered:
“There has been a fantastic response, and I still haven’t opened any cards, notes, or gifts. It’s just something I’ll eventually get to, regrettably. I recently become disabled. The shooter might as well have shot us straight.”
We do meet up, Anne added, adding that some of the victim’s parents had organized a support network. They do help one another, but it’s hard. We appreciate having a group with whom we can simply sit and converse.
Ramsay’s parents were compensated following the filing of a wrongful death lawsuit.
Anne and Vinnie requested the release of Nikolas Cruz’s medical records when they appeared in public in 2018. The youngster was treated at Henderson Behavioral Health. Henderson claimed it had nothing to conceal but that it required a judge’s approval before the private records could be disclosed.
Josh Walker, Henderson’s attorney, declared that Henderson “wants these records out there for the world to see.” According to state and federal law, we cannot disclose these records unless we have a court order.
The Ramsays would need access to the documents to prepare for a wrongful death lawsuit, according to commentators. The Broward County school district, the Sheriff’s Office, campus watchman Andrew Medina, and Henderson Behavioral Health were all named in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the victims.
In late 2021, a $25 million compensation was given to the victims. A spokesperson for the parents of four homicide victims and one injured victim, David Brill, told The Hill:
The victims and their families would not be sufficiently compensated with the money now in existence. However, this agreement offers them, as well as the other families and victims, a measure of justice and accountability.
