South Korean megastars BTS revealed they were taking a sabbatical to concentrate on their solo projects less than two months ago, making it clear that the gap was temporary.
One of the members, J-Hope, had intriguing intentions after the announcement. Fans were ecstatic when the singer’s much-awaited album, Jack-in-the-box, was released in the middle of July.
The album debuted on the Billboard 200 list at position number 17. However, it wasn’t all.
J-Hope made history on July 31 when he became the first South Korean performer to serve as the festival’s headlining act. After playing 18 songs, he concluded the final night of the renowned Chicago event this year.
The entire 70-minute set featured eight of the ten songs from his just-released debut album. He even included a few BTS songs, like “Dance” and “Dynamite.”
Then, to the amazement of his audience, he invited Becky G to perform his 2019 solo single “Chicken Noodle Soup” live.
J-Hope is the artist with the highest ticket sales in history. After his appearance, a Lollapalooza organizer disclosed that J-Hope had been the festival’s best-selling act in terms of ticket sales.
No one has sold as many tickets as J-Hope over the past 31 years, a Lollapalooza organizer claimed in a tweet posted on July 30, 2022, by a fan who claimed to have spoken with the organizer.
The lineup on July 31 was expected to have the lowest attendance ever, according to the organizer. ARMYs expressed their satisfaction and pride in the singer’s accomplishments.
“Did they anticipate less? The appeal of J-hope should not be underrated. J-HOPE, I am so proud of you. one supporter said. “I’m delighted and proud of what he’s about to do,” another fan said. Chicago will change forever!
Many fans also believed that the success of the “Chicken Noodle Soup” vocalist would allay the concerns of the other band members about releasing their solo projects in the US.
“In my opinion, he was the finest choice to make the first solo in the US. The others will find this to be quite useful, said a supporter.
Records-Breaking Performances by BTS
Given the popularity of BTS and the records they have previously broken, the news is hardly unexpected.
In just three hours and 31 minutes, BTS, who joined TikTok in September 2019, broke the previous record for the quickest period to acquire a million followers on the platform.
Then, in 2021, they surpassed 40 million followers and rose to over 65 million, making them the most followed group.
BTS has received over 27.6 billion plays on Spotify, making them the most streamed group ever, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
There is no doubt that ARMYs adore the septet and their songs. In reality, BTS overtook Taylor Swift in December 2021 to become the artist with the most overall weeks spent at No. 1 on the Billboard chart.
The ARMYs are now preparing to assist them in breaking yet another record. BTS has received nominations for the 2022 Video Music Awards in four distinct categories.
They will be the most decorated group in VMAs history if they triumph in all four categories.
