Hina Amano’s voice actors
Ashley Boettcher performed the English voice for Hina Amano in Weathering With You, while Nana Mori, a Japanese voice actor, provided the character’s Japanese voice.
Hina is shown as a happy, independent young woman. She is also a kind and sympathetic young lady, as seen by her eagerness to give Hodaka a free burger and her newly discovered enthusiasm for using her sunlight abilities to make people happy. Despite being only 15 and putting herself in danger, she shows strong familial ties by taking care of her younger brother, Nagi Amano, after their mother passed away.
Hina Amano is a young lady with fair skin, large light blue eyes, and an average height and physique. She wears her long, straight, blue-black hair in two low twin ponytails that are fastened with black hair ties and draped across her shoulders.
Hina Amano has two hair locks framing her face and long bangs. She often wears either a pink tank top with blue shorts or a white-grey sweatshirt over a pink sleeveless dress with black lace trim. She also carries a small, dark-grey canvas backpack and a blue-stone necklace.
As of the conclusion of the official MV Grand Escape, she is wearing a modest silver promise ring in the shape of a tiny wing that was handed to her by Hodaka.
History
Hina was born to Megumi Amano on August 22, 2006, in Tokyo, Japan. Although little is known about her father, he either passed away or separated from Megumi before the events of 2020.
She visited a neighboring shrine and worshiped there after her mother passed away from a fatal disease; this gave her autokinesis abilities. Then, to provide for herself and her younger brother Nagi, she continued to hunt for other occupations.
2021
Meets Hodaka is Hina. At the McDonald’s near her place of employment, Hina runs into Hodaka Morishima. Out of sympathy, she goes up to him and offers him a complimentary lunch while he sits there without placing an order.
Later, Hodaka sees Hina being coerced into working at a sketchy club and tries to save her. They run together as the club host pursues them because he recognizes her as the girl who was kind to him. The host has Hodaka held down, but he manages to shock him by firing the rifle he had earlier found.
Hina hurriedly drags Hodaka away so the two may flee to a neighboring abandoned building—the same one Hina observed while sitting with her mother—as Hodaka freezes, not expecting the gun to be genuine. Hodaka is reprimanded by Hina for meddling, and she explains that after being dismissed from her former employment at a fast-food restaurant, she needs the job to support herself and her younger sibling.
She condemns his use of the rifle as he turns to leave, and Hodaka, horrified by what he’s done, throws the gun across the building’s floor. After hearing Hodaka own his errors, Hina returns and tells him she wants to show him something, thinking he is a runaway.
On the building’s roof, Hina offers a prayer for Hodaka while displaying her prowess at clearing the sky. As Hodaka presents himself to her, she tells him she is older than him because she is 17 years old, impressing him. At Hina’s home, they are supposed to meet.
Later on that day, Hodaka shows up at Hina’s house. While she makes lunch for him, they discuss careers. Inspired by Sunshine Girl’s suggestion, Hodaka suggests that they launch a business together; Hina could offer her enigmatic talent to those seeking clean skies for special occasions.
Their business is now a big success, and they draw clients from Fortune 500 companies to kindergarteners.
Hina is expected to deliver a clear sky for the Jingu Gaien fireworks festival a few months into her employment. She then sits on the building’s roof with Hodaka to watch the fireworks while telling him that she is happy she started her job.
At Fumi Tachibana’s home, Hina, Nagi, and Hodaka clear the skies so that she can start a fire for her deceased husband. Hodaka responds that they have little choice because Hina was captured on camera during the event and prefers to stay nameless for the time being, despite Fumi’s regrets over quitting the job.
When Taki Tachibana visits Fumi’s home and starts a fire for her deceased husband, Fumi urges Hina to do the same for her deceased mother after learning of her passing. Taki and Hodaka converse about Hina as she plays in the garden with her brother, Fumi, and Taki.
As Hina and Hodaka wait and observe, Keisuke and his daughter Moka Suga play with Nagi in their final task at the park. Moka’s asthma prevented her from playing outside, thus Hina’s previous task had been to clean the skies for her.
Inquiring about Hodaka’s kid and how he knew this was his job, Keisuke approaches the two but is ignored as he compliments Hina on her skills. Before Natsumi arrives, the three continue their conversation. Hodaka then turns to Keisuke and wonders if he’ll get into trouble with her because he has a wife.
After Keisuke chuckles at his mistake and is accused of being a pervert by Hina and Natsumi. The girls are talking about the parallels between the deceased guys when Nagi and Moka summon Keisuke and Hodaka to them. Natsumi asks Hina how she’s doing and tells her about a hazardous Sunshine Girl tale that a priest had told her about.
The six disperse as the sky grows gloomy and the rain starts up again, with Nagi going with the Sugas to a restaurant and Hodaka and Hina returning to the Amano residence together.
Hodaka is concerns about proposing to Hina and telling her that he loves her while they stroll together, but she interrupts to tell him something.
A wind gust interrupts her, stunning Hodaka as she flies back to him from the skies. He understands the Sunshine Girl’s curse is making her invisible. Hina tells him, with the ring and confession forgotten, how she became a Sunshine Girl at the rooftop shrine as they make their way back to her house.
While Hina is being questioned by the police about Hodaka’s whereabouts, Hodaka hides in the bathroom at Hina’s flat. Police are investigating Hodaka’s use and possession of illegal firearms after his parents reported him missing. An officer informs Hina that social services would be contacted to take away her younger brother Nagi because they are minors without legal guardianship.
When it starts to snow, the weather gets progressively worse, so Hina decides to depart with Hodaka and Nagi. The three are caught on the streets, and when Hodaka tries to run away, he is caught by two policemen.
However, Hina saves him by distracting the authorities by praying that lightning will strike nearby, saving him from being caught. The group is now free to escape and find lodging.
They spend the night in a hotel. As they are about to fall asleep, Hina admits to Hodaka that her body is gradually turning into water and that she had heard from Natsumi the legend of the weather maiden, who becomes a living sacrifice and whose permanent disappearance into the clouds is the only way for the weather to return to normal. He tells her he won’t allow this to happen and that he will look out for her. The next day, though, Hina vanishes, and the rains stop.
After pursuing Hina to the location where she was abducted in the sky, Hodaka succeeds in climbing to the top of the structure and leaps through the shrine. After that, he is carried into space above the earth, where he saves Hina. Hodaka encourages Hina to start living for herself as they crash to the ground, and the rain starts up again with no sign of stopping.
In 2024, Hina and Nagi continued to reside in the Sugas’ apartment, with Hina returning to school. They were probably adopted by the Sugas.
When Hodaka goes looking for Hina in Tokyo three years later, he finds her praying close to where he initially tried to confess to her. She hears him call out and is astonished and glad to see him. After the movie, they embrace once more.
Capabilities for manipulating the weather
As a Sunshine Girl, Hina has a special talent that enables her to use prayer to clean the skies and halt the rain. She can use her power to control the weather and jump into the air.
But there is a drawback to using this power, as the priest explained in folklore: the more Hina uses it, the more translucent her body becomes until one day when she has used up all the energy in her body, she will disappear into the sky.
Her power over the weather may also have an impact on her emotions. Examples include her singular resolve to protect Hodaka from the police by asking for lightning or thunder to strike a car to give them time to escape, and lastly, when she is cold, snow will fall from the sky.
Cooking Her proficiency in making Ramen and Potato Chip Fried Rice with the right methods and ingredients suggests that she is a talented and creative cook.
