Her unusual three-syllable given name is based on the “wise and clever” connotation of the 7th-century battle hero Gim Yu-sin’s childhood nickname.

As of June 2023, the gifted actress and singer is unmarried. According to rumors, Sandara dated rapper G-Dragon, co-actor Kim Soo-Hyun, and Filipino artist Joseph Bitangcol.
