In 2014, Loudersound got down with Mick Jones to talk about everything from his successful job to his personal life. Jones is most recognized for his work as the lead guitarist, co-vocalist, co-founding member, and composer for the legendary rock group Foreigner.
He wrote some of the most well-known songs of the late 1970s, but his most well-known ballad is perhaps “I Want To Know What Love Is.” Jones admitted to Loudersound that while no specific woman in his life had a direct influence on the song “I Want To Know What Love Is,” he did remember his interactions with many different women when writing the lyrics.
The lead singer of the biggest rock band was a feminine magnet who enjoyed herself on stage. The romantic-at-heart musician used to fall in love easily, but he quickly realized that marriage and settling down were not for him.
Having been married three times, I guess I’m done. Right now, I’m not wed. Marriage doesn’t work when you spend more time with your instrument than with your wife and family, even though I think it’s a wonderful institution, Jones continued.
Dexter-Jones and Mick Jones
Jones’ first marriage is undocumented; nevertheless, in 1985, the singer wed Ann Dexter-Jones, a jewelry designer. When Ann was going through a divorce from her first husband, music producer, and band manager Laurence Ronson, the two came into contact. She knew right away that Jones was the one, but she was wary because of her precarious legal situation.
Since obtaining custody of her three children, Mark Ronson, Samantha Ronson, and Charlotte Ronson, was her main priority, Ann first turned down Jones’ offer because she didn’t want anything to divert her attention from that. Jones, on the other hand, remained persistent and sent her flowers every day for six months.
After it was a success, the couple married in New York. Their second child, Alexander and Annabelle Jones, was born. Christopher, a child from Jones’ first marriage, is also raised by them. It’s important to note that all of their offspring have thrived in their respective fields.
Mick Jones remarried after divorcing
Before Jones’ “rocker lifestyle” started to negatively impact their marriage in the early 2000s, the couple had been happily married for many years. Jones’ drinking habit ultimately caused him to divorce Dexter-Jones in 2007.
The jewelry designer claimed that their connection had been strained as a result of the divorce and that they had not communicated in a while. By 2010, Jones was sober and working to mend their relationship. There were rumors that the couple eventually made amends, which Page Six confirmed in 2017.
To the amazement of their kids, the artist and his wife renewed their vows after a protracted separation. Jones expressed his happiness at finding his true mate again. His home had always been with Ann, so perhaps he wasn’t destined to be a nomad.
