An American filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer by the name of Ryan Coogler. He has received four NAACP Image Awards, four Black Reel Awards, and other honors in addition to being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.

Coogler was born in Oakland and up to the age of eight resided there with his family until they relocated to Richmond.
