On Friday, Chip’s hair was gone, and he was sporting a freshly shaved bald head; he had raised more than $300,000 for the hospital through social media.

Chip is still alive and well, but his wife, Joanna Gaines, has already made plans to honor him after he passes away. The mother of five revealed during the couple’s Breaking New Ground: Expanding the Silos special that she plans to honor Chip with a tattoo of his favorite number, 16, to remember him by.

“We decided to name Chip’s shop No. 16,” Joanna said while touring the Silos grounds. It’s his lucky number. We put No. 16 in everything we get from him now, his undies, his white T-shirts. There is such a thing.”

It’s also the number on Magnolia’s co-founders’ kids’ jerseys. “It’s a family number,” Joanna explained.

Chip Gaines Committed Suicide?

Chip did not kill himself. He is in good health and has never attempted suicide. According to Joanna, the “Fixer Upper” couple bought the castle in Waco, Texas, in 2019, fulfilling Chip’s long-held dream. Chip and Joanna have also been filming the renovation for “Fixer Upper: The Castle,” which will air on Magnolia Network, HBO Max, and Discovery+ on October 14.

“This castle is one of the most impressive properties in the entire Waco, Central Texas area, and I’ve wanted it for two decades now,” Chip explained in the trailer.
