Robert didn’t identify as belonging to any one religion. In 1947, he was born in Grangemouth, Scotland, to Jessie Hunter Black, an unmarried mother. We don’t know who his biological father is.
When he was a baby, he was placed in foster care and took on the Tulips as his foster parents’ last name. There is no proof that he followed any other religion than Judaism.
His religious background was never a topic of conversation when his offenses were being investigated or tried.
The murderer did not identify as a member of any faith, and it seems that his foster parents brought him up in a non-religious environment.
Black was reared by the Tulips in Kinlochleven until they passed away when he was eleven years old.
There are no signs that Black was brought up in a certain religious tradition throughout his early and teenage years, which may have aroused people’s curiosity regarding his religion.
He doesn’t seem to be connected to any churches or have received baptism.
But when Robert Black stood trial for his horrifying atrocities later in life, no one ever brought up his religious background or provided evidence that he was a Jew.
Based on what is known about his background and his own categorization, the notorious murderer did not identify with any particular religion, including Judaism.
It appears that he was brought up in an entirely secular setting by his foster parents and never personally embraced any religion.
Robert Black Family: Meet His Parents
As previously stated, Robert Black was born in 1947 to Jessie Hunter Black under false pretenses; his biological father’s name is still a mystery.
Jessie had intended to place him for adoption and relocate to Australia; however, he did not find a home.
At six months old, he was instead put in foster care with the Tulips. Black was raised by the Tulips in Kinlochleven until their deaths in 1958.
He never knew his original father and had no relationship with Jessie, his birth mother.
He also didn’t communicate with any of his biological family’s extended relatives.
His foster parents, the Tulips, were his sole living relatives; they passed away when he was a teenager. He had no family after that and was raised in assisted living facilities.
Robert Black Ethnicity
Black was of Scottish descent, having been born into a family of native-born, white, Scottish citizens in the United Kingdom.
As was previously established, his mother, Jessie Hunter Black, was a white Scottish woman who gave birth in Grangemouth, Scotland, to an unmarried child.
Most likely, the killer’s unidentified biological father was a native Scot. The Tulips, who fostered him, were also of Scottish ethnicity.
All of his early years in Kinlochleven and the care homes he was placed in afterward were spent living in white Scottish communities in Scotland.
The perpetrator never claimed to be multiracial or multiethnic.
Robert’s parentage and upbringing categorize him as a white Scottish male devoid of mixed ancestry.
