Singaporean businessman Shou Zi Chew is TikTok’s CEO. His CEO job at TikTok began in 2021. Chew graduated from University College London in 2006 and worked at Goldman Sachs in London as a banker. He then headed an early investment team in ByteDance at DST Global in 2013. He was Xiaomi’s CFO before joining TikTok.

Shou Zi Chew is not jailed. Following the TikTok scandal, his jailing gained public attention. The TikTok CEO testified before Congress on national user security and hazardous material given the platform’s ties to China.
On March 23, Congress questioned Chew for five hours discussing TikTok’s parent company, Beijing-based ByteDance.The hearing follows December 2022’s government gadget TikTok ban. The University of Austin and Auburn University banned the app on wifi in January for security reasons.

Lawmakers said the software has had a harmful influence on youngsters and young people in several models. Thursday’s session suggests legislators may prohibit apps nationwide while TikTok remains under scrutiny. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy tweeted on March 26 that TikTok will be banned.
