Is SNL’s Dave Chapelle in custody?

No, SNL’s Dave Chapelle has not been detained. On the other hand, Dave was assaulted by a guy at the Hollywood Bowl.

The man suspected of stabbing comedian Dave Chappelle onstage at the Hollywood Bowl has reportedly been charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his roommate at a transitional living facility in December, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Isaiah Lee, who pleaded not guilty to the felony allegation, is due back in court on June 2.

According to the prosecution, Lee was recognized and captured in the original attack in part because of the attention that followed the Chappelle incident.

A message left requesting a lawyer defending Lee for comment did not receive a prompt response from the county public defender’s office.

On May 3, Lee was arrested for reportedly storming the stage and attacking Chappelle during his stand-up performance at the Hollywood Bowl.

What acted as Dave Chapelle?

Dave Chapelle didn’t take any action against the assailant. In fact, he carried on with the presentation as if nothing had happened.

According to Carla Sims, the comedian’s spokesman, Chappelle “refuses to allow last night’s incident to overshadow the magic of this historic moment.”

Sims pointed out that Dave Chappelle celebrated four nights of comedy and music at the Hollywood Bow, breaking sales records for a comedian. She proceeded by saying that Chappelle completed the program despite the terrible and upsetting nature of the occurrence.

Isaiah Lee, What Did He Do? His Charges Information

At this month’s Netflix Is a Joke Festival, while Chappelle was performing, Lee, 23, is accused of charging the comic while carrying a fake pistol and a switchblade.

In response to four misdemeanor charges of violence, holding a weapon with the intent to assault, approaching the stage area without permission while a performance was in process, and interfering with a performer or delaying an event, he filed a not-guilty plea.

The Police, who also posted a photo of the item, claimed that the fake handgun he was carrying had a sizable blade that folded out like a pocket knife.

Without being wounded, Chappelle completed his act at the “Netflix Is a Joke” comedy festival.

In lieu of a $30,000 bond, Lee, who was first jailed on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, is still in jail. If he paid bond and was released, he was told to keep at least 100 yards away from Chappelle and the Hollywood Bowl.

City Attorney Mike Feuer said in a video statement announcing the charges that the alleged assault had to have consequences and that his office takes preserving public safety seriously and would zealously prosecute this case.

What’s become of Dave Chapelle?

Chappelle has been assisting the continuing Police investigation into this incident since the attack, while Lee has remained in custody. Thankfully, Chappelle was unharmed.

To misdemeanor charges of violence, possessing a weapon with the intent to attack, and interfering with two public events, Lee entered a not-guilty plea. Lee was admitted to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the Police. A $30,000 bail has been established for Lee’s imprisonment, according to the press statement.

According to a representative who responded to USA TODAY on Netflix’s behalf, the company vehemently defends the ability of stand-up comedians to perform onstage without being concerned about being attacked. USA TODAY has also been in touch with executives of The Hollywood Bowl for comment.
