Early Life of Sophie Gregoire Grégoire was born in Montreal, Quebec, on April 24, 1975. She is the only child of stockbroker Jean Grégoire and Franco-Ontarian nurse Estelle Blais.
Her family moved to Montreal when she was four years old, having previously lived in Sainte-Adèle, north of the city.
Following that, she was raised in the Mount Royal district of Montreal, where she went to school with Michel Trudeau, the brother of Grégoire’s husband, Justin Trudeau, and the youngest child of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and his wife Margaret.
