In honor of Sydney Sweeney’s mom’s 60th birthday, the Sweeneys were pictured wearing MAGA hats and a Blue Lives Matter shirt.
She celebrated Lisa’s birthday with a Western-themed party in an Idaho barn. She was dressed to the nines in authentic western wear.
Holy crap, you guys are nuts. Saturday, August 27, the 24-year-old Euphoria actress wrote, “AnWesternnt party for my mother’s milestone 60th birthday has turned into an insane political statement, which was not the aim.”Please don’t jump to conclusions. Sending birthday wishes and blessings to Mom from the whole family.
Photos from the event were posted to Sydney’s Tumblr on Saturday morning. A photo of her mother, grandmother, and a man sporting a Blue Lives Matter flag on his shirt was posted on Instagram with the statement, “No better way to honor my mum than a surprise hoedown.”
Is Lisa Mudd Sweeney, mother of MAGA supporter Sydney Sweeney, involved in the saga? Why Did She Do That?
In August, Sydney Mudd Sweeney of Spokane, Washington, celebrated her mother Lisa Mudd Sweeney’s accomplishment with a Western-themed party.
The photographs stoked the fires of controversy not just because of the bespoke red hats, but also because of the other Donald Trump supporter clothing that could be seen.
On Twitter, Sydney remarked, “You guys, this is wild. My mother’s 60th birthday party was supposed to be a joyous occasion, not a platform for radical political commentary.
As she concluded her message, she pleaded, “Please stop making assumptions.” Sending birthday wishes and blessings to Mom from the whole family.
Sydney has not discussed her political beliefs or those of her family, but the Handmaid’s Tale star did tell GQ that she regularly finds herself at odds with her family back in Los Angeles. To paraphrase what she said: “When I go home, my family doesn’t understand me anymore or the world I’m in now.”
But the way of life there is completely different from what I’m used to and what gives me a foundation in this field. Both sides don’t get me, and I’m stuck in the middle.
The MAGA controversy: what is it?
The successful 2016 presidential campaign of Donald Trump helped spread the slogan “Make America Great Again,” or MAGA for short.
The slogan became viral, with both Trump supporters and his adversaries using it, and it spawned several parodies in the arts, politics, and the media.
When it first became popular in the 2010s, several people said the slogan was loaded.
Journalists, scholars, and opponents who see the slogan as coded language and dog-whistle politics have labeled it racist. The notion that the slogan is racist has been challenged by many who see it as having patriotic or nationalist overtones.
The slogan was at the center of both the Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax and the fight at the Lincoln Memorial in January of this year.
Trump remarked in December 2011, “I must leave all of my options open because, above all else, we must make America great again.”
His final statement was, “I must leave all of my options open because, above all else, we must make America great again.” His book, originally titled “Making America #1 Again,” had its title changed to “Make America Great Again” in 2015.
Because it has only been in use since 2015, the phrase is loaded. The statement “doesn’t just appeal to people who hear it as racist coded language” is problematic because of the several meanings it can have.
To those “who have felt a loss of status as other groups have become more empowered,” as Voice of America journalist Marissa Melton put it.
To paraphrase Sarah Churchwell, “The true version of America is the America that looks like me, the American fantasy I imagine existed before it was diluted with other races and other people,” and so the slogan now expresses the same emotion that America First did in the early 1940s.
