One of the greatest healthcare workers’ strikes in the UK is being led by Pat Cullen, the current General Secretary and Chief Executive of the Royal College of Nursing.
This winter, Pat, a native of Carrickmore, County Tyrone, has taken the lead in the struggle for improved wages among nurses and other healthcare workers. On Thursday, staff from all around the UK joined the picket line in support of the greatest nurse strike in NHS history.
Cullen just made an appearance on national television before the strike as the RCN demanded a 19% wage raise for its workers. She was selected to serve as the organization’s interim General Secretary & Chief Executive in April 2021. She received the job permanently in July of the same year.
