Willcox worked as a television journalist for ITN for several years as a presenter and correspondent.

After joining the news team, he became the network’s Arts and Media Correspondent and provided live coverage from New York City during the terrorist events of September 11, 2001.

In the 1990s, Willcox hosted the ITN Morning News, and he was the first ITN correspondent to cover the Paris automobile accident that killed Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1997.

Tim is perhaps best known for delivering the BBC’s live coverage from Chile during the Copiapó mining disaster and for anchoring the BBC’s live daytime coverage in Egypt during the early stages of the Cairo revolution in January 2011.

Is Tim Willcox Leaving BBC News Due to Illness?

David Eades, Joanna Gosling, and Tim Willcox will leave the BBC as part of efforts to integrate its domestic and international news programming.

The three top presenters have chosen voluntary redundancy and will leave the BBC after decades of combined service.

Given that Gosling is leaving at the end of January, Eades has already given his farewell performance. Willcox’s departure date has not yet been announced.

They opted not to take part in the search for a new team of six lead presenters for the proposed new channel. The channel will include both BBC World News and the United Kingdom’s 24-hour news service.

Given the presenters’ level of experience, insiders told Deadline that the procedure is “humiliating” for everyone involved.

Willcox was one of three BBC staff who lost a tax evasion case involving several hundred thousand pounds in taxes that the British government claimed were illegally avoided in September 2019.

The phrase “tax” alludes to a Labour proposal to levy an additional fee on residences worth $3.5 million.

Meet His Wife, Najah al-Otaibi, and Their Children

Willcox, 58, married Najah al-Otaibi, a woman 18 years his junior, in 2019. She is a Saudi political commentator who frequently appears on BBC news programs.

It was reported that the two were barred from sharing the screen; they periodically hosted the BBC’s 24-hour news program at the same time.

Sarah, Willcox’s 17-year wife and the mother of their four children, was divorced. Although Long divorced her spouse, her relationship with Willcox ended in 2014.

Later, while still dating Long, Willcox developed affections for Tessa Hardy, a 60-year-old blonde he met. Both Al-Otaibi and Willcox declined to comment.

Willcox and Sarah married, and the couple had three children. In November 2012, Willcox allegedly had an affair with BBC staff member Sophie Long.

He has lived in the West Oxfordshire village of Wootton, sometimes known as Wootton by Woodstock, on the River Glyme.
