Around noon, a collision happened close to Interstate 77’s southbound lanes at the Nations Ford Road exit. The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are both looking into the incident; more details have not yet been released.

Who Was Jason Myers?

Jason Myers was born on February 19, 1981, to Rev. Glenn and Susan Myers in Salisbury, Maryland, in the United States. He was raised in North Carolina’s Union and Catawba counties.

Myers graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in meteorology with a concentration in communications after attending high school in Davidson County. He belonged to the American Meteorological Society as well.

The renowned meteorologist had previously held positions in Abilene, Texas; Lexington, Kentucky; and Richmond, Virginia. He held positions with businesses like ABC 36 and WBTV.

Jillian Ann Southerland, a friend from childhood who Jason Myers married on May 10, 2003, bore the couple four children: Andrew (19), Lilly (17), Luke (15), and Lydia (13).

Jason was a Christian who was an American national.

The Myers family’s GoFundMe was started by a family friend, with all proceeds going toward funeral and memorial expenses.

The first sentence on the page reads, “Jason Myers sadly died in a helicopter crash while on a work assignment with WBTV News on November 22, 2022.

As of the time of writing, donors had given more than $155,000 to the fundraiser, surpassing its initial $15,000 goal.

In a recent update, the family stated that they were “overwhelmed by the generous outpouring of love and support after the unimaginable loss of our beloved husband, Father, son, brother, and friend.”
