Pastor Jack Hayford, a Christian pastor, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 8, 2023. According to reports, the preacher died at the age of 88
. According to his family, Jack Hayford died quietly, eating supper with his wife, Valarie, and talking to his grandchildren on the night of his death.
Pastor Jack Hayford founded The Church On The Way in Van Nuys, California, and served as its founding pastor for more than 30 years. His work as a best-selling novelist, for which he wrote or co-wrote more than 50 novels, was also recognized. In addition, the pastor wrote 500 hymns and choruses. Majesty was one of the pastor’s best-known praise songs.
Pastor Jack also founded King’s University in Southlake, Texas, in 1997. He served as the university’s chancellor until stepping down in favor of Pastor Robert Morris. In a public statement, King University announced the death of its founder, Jack Hayford, saying:
“Pastor Jack Hayford, founder and emeritus chancellor of The King’s University and Seminary (TKU), died on Sunday, January 8, at his home in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley.”

As a pastor, Jack touched many people’s lives, and social media was flooded with tributes as people shared their memories and feelings about him immediately after his death. A former president of Foursquare Church took to Twitter to discuss how his life was influenced by no one other than his father and the pastor. He stated, ”
“Aside from my father, no one had a greater influence on me for the kingdom than Pastor Jack Hayford. Valarie, his wife, called me early this morning to say he had quietly entered his heavenly reward. No one I’m aware of has had a greater impact on the Body of Christ than him.”
Pastor Jack is remembered as the former president of Foursquare Gospel
Jack was a well-known Christian leader who was widely respected for his teachings and wisdom. He served as the President of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (ICFG) from 2004 to 2009. The Foursquare Church paid tribute to the former president in a series of tweets as the pastor died.
Randy Remington, the current president of the church, also issued a statement, saying:
“Pastor Jack was a Kingdom ambassador whose influence extended across denominations, generations, and continents. Jack’s personal life was modeled by his passion for Spirit-filled worship, fervent intercession, and biblical teaching that revealed Jesus. He lived the life he wanted others to live.”
He is survived by his four daughters, 11 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his second wife, Valarie. After Hayford’s first wife, Anna Smith, died in 2017, the pastor remarried and married Valarie.
