One of the 15 competitors in Top Chef Season 19 is Jackson Kalb. He is a chef and businessman who lives in Los Angeles.

In Los Angeles, Kalb co-owns and runs the Italian eateries Jame Enoteca and Ospi with his wife, Melissa. Additionally, he is a cook and partner in the breakfast burrito restaurant Wake and Late. The marriage of Jackson and Melissa took place in January of this year.
In January 2020, Kalb made his now-wife Melissa the subject of a romantic proposal while they were watching an NBA game. The grandiose proposal included a flash mob, a live DJ, Bruno Mars, and basketball player King James. The pair posted pictures and videos of their journey online.
Jackson Kalb’s Gastronomic Journey
The inspiration for Kalb’s love of cooking came from the Food Network. He felt unwell when he was 11 and binge-watched its shows. At age 12, he discovered a catering business that could instruct him in the culinary arts.
He had trained all through high school, and in 2013 he received his degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. After graduating, he went on to work for the Hillstone Restaurant Group as a culinary manager. He met Melissa at this time, and they later became partners in life and business.
To study everything there is to know about pasta, Kalb spent two years in Italy after leaving the Hillstone Restaurant Group. He returned to The Factory Kitchen in 2016 and served as Chef de Cuisine until becoming Executive Chef at Bottlefish (in 2017).
He intends to open Gemma di Mare, his third eatery, in 2022 in Los Angeles. Additionally, he is developing software to aid freelance chefs as well as a line of jarred pasta sauces.

In the competition for the title of Top Chef America, a $250,000 grand prize, and an article in Food and Wine magazine, Kalb is one of many exceptional cooks.
Top Chef Season 19 will be hosted by Padma Lakshmi, who will also serve as a judge for the competitors’ abilities with head judges Gail Simmons and Tom Colicchio. Marcus Samuelsson, Wylie Dufresne, Bricia Lopez, Eric Ripert, Carlotta Flores, Alexander Smalls, Daniel Boulud, and Hunter Lewis will all be guest judges on the program throughout the season.
