Jake Gyllenhaal Doesn’t Think He’s A Good Expressive Actor

Jake Gyllenhaal

Over the weekend, American actor Jake Gyllenhaal hosted Saturday Night Live, where he shared some candid memories and musical abilities. The 41-year-old musician began by joking about how long it had been since he had hosted Saturday Night Live and how he was “happy to be back.”

“My most recent party was in 2007.” Do you recall how long that was? That was 400 Marvel movies ago.”

Jake Gyllenhaal also referenced his 2007 monologue, which featured a spoof of George W. Bush and jokes about the first iPhone. The musician also shared an old photo of himself wearing a wig and a dress while yelling out a song.

“Yeah. I’m in drag, playing a Dream Girls song to promote a film in which I played a gay cowboy. That was the least worrisome component of the show.”

Jake Gyllenhaal believes he is not a good method actor.

During the past 15 years, the Oscar hopeful reflected on how he became known as “this serious, concentrated method actor.”

“I recall telling the Nightcrawler director, ‘Get ready for me to lose 48 pounds and win the Oscar.'” Then, a week later, I added, ‘How about an actor losing 36 pounds and winning a Golden Globe?’ When I got on set, I told everyone, ‘You’re looking at a man who gained 10 pounds and doesn’t care about awards!'”

Gyllenhaal admitted that he “forgot how to have fun” as a “serious” actor in his drive to become a successful actor. He described acting as “pretend,” claiming that it was meant to be pleasurable and enjoyable, which he should have realized a long time ago.

He has returned to the stage, though, since he is “finally embracing” his happiness again. Jake Gyllenhaal stated that he never expected SNL to “come knocking” again so many years after his first appearance on the show. He wasn’t even sure he’d be able to host.

He did, however, mention that being there seemed like everything was suddenly back. The vocalist delivered a powerful rendition of Celine Dion’s It’s All Coming Back to Me Now, accompanied by Chloe Fineman, Ego Nwodim, and Cecily Strong.
