In the summer of 2017, when Janey was heading to her first practice as a senior volleyball player at Cordova High School, her life took an unexpected turn.
Tragically, she was involved in a terrible vehicle accident on the way to her first practice. Due to her haste and excessive speed, she lost control of her car and veered off the road before colliding with a tree.
Thank goodness, a kind bystander saw the incident and phoned 911 right away. Quick action by emergency personnel resulted in the dispatch of a helicopter and an ambulance to the scene of the collision.
She received prompt medical care when she was taken to the famous University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in a matter of minutes. The seriousness of the injury became clear when medical professionals discovered that her skull had separated from her spine, requiring immediate surgery.
She had a rod put into her neck, and a plate held the base of her head in place.
Heather, Janey’s mother, called the circumstances “miraculous.” After the surgical procedure, she had a trying six weeks at UAB Hospital before being moved to Children’s of Alabama.
Her road to recovery, paralyzed from the neck down, started right away with rigorous physical therapy at the eminent hospital.
She had a 1% chance of surviving, yet she beat the odds and slowly started to mend.
She endured the challenging therapy sessions with endurance and tenacity, gradually regaining mobility and the hope for a better future.

Janey, a 22-year-old accident victim, experienced a life-altering event in 2017 when she was just 17 years old.
She had always relied on her devoted mother, Heather, who had given birth to her.
Heather remembers the doctors’ unsettling remarks in which they conveyed their concerns regarding Janey’s prognosis. They cautioned that the majority of persons with such serious wounds never make it to the hospital, much less have surgery.
Janey, however, defied all odds and shocked everyone by making extraordinary progress.
Within a few months, she regained feeling and mobility in various body parts.
She was fortunate to have her family’s unwavering support during her challenging rehabilitation journey. They remained at her side, giving her support, love, and a helping hand when required. Her capacity to persist and conquer obstacles was greatly influenced by their continual presence.

Two years after her fatal tragedy, Janey set out on a trip that would not only inspire her but also have an impact on other people.
She decided to start a blog after realizing she had a natural aptitude for writing and that she could use it to share her life experiences and inspire others.
She started blogging with the support of her helpful sister and has stuck with it ever since.
Once Covid-19 started, she decided to create cards for those who were unable to go shopping for Mother’s Day presents.
Her concept developed into something far more significant: a line of watercolor cards including Bible verses, Christmas decorations, inspirational quotes, and other stationary things that can be bought at two stores in the Jasper region as well as on Etsy.
She anticipates expanding her burgeoning card company while strengthening her online presence.
