A former Cass Tech quarterback who was imprisoned in 2014 for body-slamming a security guard was apprehended after a standoff with law enforcement.
A weekend altercation at an Auburn Hills mental health facility reportedly led to Jayru Campbell, a former quarterback for Ferris State University, being detained at the Oakland County Jail.
Tuesday marks Campbell Campbell’s 26th birthday, and he posted a video of the altercation with the local police on his Facebook page. He released two videos of the argument.

What Jayru Campbell Did: He was detained and charged
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reports that Campbell is currently being held in custody at the jail as they prepare charges and an arraignment.
He was incarcerated on Christmas Day, the office added.
Campbell has had prior encounters with the law. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail on May 30, 2014, as a result of a misdemeanor assault complaint and subsequent plea bargain regarding the altercation with a high school security guard.
The football star at the time was a junior who was 17 years old. He was arrested following an incident with his girlfriend during his senior year.
The Free Press was told by sources that Campbell had been seen striking his girlfriend.
After being taken into custody by police from the Detroit Public Schools, he was held at the Detroit Detention Center.

In the previous season, he was responsible for more than 4,000 offensive yards.
He was directly involved in 49 of FSU’s offensive touchdowns from the previous season.
