Jen Shah, A Real Housewives Star, Was Given A Prison Term Of More Than Six Years

On Friday, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah received a six-and-a-half-year prison term. The television actor entered a plea guilty in July for participating in a telemarketing scheme that preyed on the weak.

Shah expressed regret for her actions and promised to “work for the rest of my life to make things right.”

She stipulated in her plea agreement to lose $6.5 million (£5.3 million). She shall also make compensation of up to $9.5 million (£7.8 million).

Shah was given a 78-month prison term after Shah’s counsel requested a three-year sentence and the prosecution suggested a 10-year term.

Shah, 49, and her former assistant Stuart Smith, who has also entered a guilty plea, are accused by the prosecution of creating lists of vulnerable victims, including the elderly and selling them to other participants in the fraud operation.

Authorities claimed Shah was the defendant in the case who was “most guilty” in court documents.

According to prosecutors, the scheme has deceived thousands of people since 2012. According to victim testimony, among the victims were a widow in her 70s who lost half of her life savings and another individual with a health issue who lost money to the plan to pay for false business prospects and ended up homeless.

While being filmed for Bravo’s Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Shah was detained in March 2021.

The reality star constantly promoted her opulent lifestyle during the show, including her pricey accessories, apparel, and a group of many aides known as the “Shah squad.”

She first entered a not-guilty plea and continued to do so for the majority of the third season of the show.

Shah’s past explanations of her employment and financial condition frequently left fellow cast members and viewers perplexed.

In a 2019 interview, she claimed, “What I’ve been doing for the last 20 years is direct response marketing, and I make millions.

On February 17, Shah will turn himself in a federal jail.
