Benny Medina, Jennifer Lopez’s longtime manager, did not hold back in expressing his displeasure with the arrangement even if Lopez avoided directly addressing the issue of why she was made to share the stage with Shakira. Medina referred to the NFL’s decision to have two international superstars share a major performance slot as an “insult” in an interview with the documentary.
“A Super Bowl often has just one big draw. It is up to the headliner to decide whether or not to include other performers in their performance. To say that you needed two Latinas to complete a task that had typically been completed by one artist was insulting.
In order to make the best of a less-than-ideal situation, the two Latina stars are shown speaking on Zoom about the performance and the amount of time each would require throughout the slot in the first segment of the upcoming documentary. The Waka Waka singer said to J. Lo during their talk,
“I am aware that the Super Bowl broadcasters want to include us. I have not yet been informed of my allotted number of minutes.
“Let me just address it immediately. They gave a 12-minute estimate. We are currently at 13, and 14 minutes, and I have a strong guarantee that we may have a minute or two more. I think you should get half the time, Shakira, and I should get the other half.
Since the two artists can be seen cooperating and encouraging one another throughout the movie, Shakira is not at fault. Lopez, on the other hand, was forthright while talking about the NFL.
