Jeremy Strong has commented on his New Yorker article, which shed light on his acting technique. On 2 September, at the Telluride Film Festival, Strong told Vanity Fair that the narrative felt like a “deep breach of trust.”
For the uninitiated, December 5, 2021, New Yorker article on the Succession star indicated that the actor’s acting approach may cause friction with his co-actors. On Succession, Jeremy Strong Doesn’t Get the Joke rapidly rose to the top of the news cycle.
The actor characterized the story as “painful” and “foolish,” and added:
“Ultimately, as an actor, what I care about is trying to feel as free as possible in the face of the noise and fog that followed it,” she said. A portion of it involves attempting to shield yourself from all of that, as well as from what others may say or believe about you. You must be liberated from it.”

Strong stated at his Telluride Film Festival appearance for the film Armageddon Time that the New Yorker article about him did not bode well with him.
Strong, 43, stated that the profile “probably spoke more about the writer and their perspective, which is a fair assessment, than it did about who I am and what I’m about.”
He indicated:
“It was unbearable. I felt foolish. One of the most valuable hidden assets an actor can possess is the ability to tolerate feeling foolish.”
When quizzed about his approach to acting, the actor responded:
“It is difficult to discuss acting without appearing self-important, but it is something I take very seriously, care deeply about, and have dedicated my life to.”
Jeremy Strong’s co-stars provide assistance.
Despite the story’s implication that Strong’s acting style may cause conflicts with his co-stars, a number of Hollywood luminaries defended him and spoke out against the article.
Oscar winner Jessica Chastain described Strong as “inspiring and enthusiastic about his job.” She tweeted the following:

Anne Hathaway went to Instagram to express her support for Jeremy Strong by publishing a picture of him receiving an Emmy. Her caption included the phrase:
“As the week comes to a close, I’d like to thank Jeremy Strong, with whom I’ve had the privilege of working twice and whom I’m happy to call a friend. I appreciate his deliberation, honesty, authenticity, sweetness, depth, compassion, and generosity, as well as his extraordinary intelligence and sensitivity.”
Succession co-star Justine Lupe stated that The New Yorker article about Jeremy Strong demonstrated his “relentless dedication.”
