Jerome Ford to Be No. 1 Running Back After Nick Chubb’s Injury

Following the season-ending injury to All-Pro running back Nick Chubb, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Tuesday that Jerome Ford has taken over as the team’s primary running back. After suffering a left knee injury in the second quarter of Monday night’s game against the Steelers, Chubb was helped off the field.

While Coach Stefanski declined to go into detail about Chubb’s injuries, he did state that Chubb will require surgery. Coach Stefanski also stated that the Browns are aggressively looking to add another running back to their roster to bolster their depth. Nonetheless, he stated that Ford would take over the starting running back position previously held by Chubb.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, free agent running back Kareem Hunt, who spent the previous four seasons with the Browns, paid a visit to the team on Tuesday as part of their efforts to remedy the problem. On Monday, Jerome Ford demonstrated his abilities by rushing for 106 yards on 16 attempts, including a magnificent 69-yard run that culminated in a Browns touchdown.

Immediately following Chubb’s injury, Ord demonstrated his versatility by contributing in the passing game, catching three receptions for 25 yards and scoring one touchdown.
