On September 3, 2016, he fought McJoe Arroyo to become the IBF junior bantamweight champion. On January 29, 2017, Jerwin made his first defense, defeating José Alfredo Rodrguez by technical knockout.
It was revealed in December that this boxer had signed with Top Rank and will make his U.S. debut in February 2018.
