Tammy Faye Messner appeared on his show, Larry King Live, the day before she passed away. She said throughout the show that she only weighed 65 pounds and couldn’t swallow. King noted the singer’s preferences when he announced her passing on his program, highlighting the fact that she wanted her passing to be a celebration:
She wanted to celebrate. In two to three weeks, they intend to have a party in Palm Springs, California. Her friends will be welcome. She also wanted a party to take place. She died peacefully. Anyone who watched her this week on our program knew she wouldn’t survive long.

In 1996, Messner had surgery for colon cancer. She did, however, declare in 2004 that the illness had spread to her lungs. She said that medical professionals had given up on treating her in 2007.
Throughout her career, Messner published more than 25 albums and a sizable number of books. Despite having an illness, she admitted to King on his program that she trusted in her religion and urged doctors not to estimate her remaining time.
“Let me use this opportunity to let you know how much I truly love and care about you and how much I hope to see you in paradise someday. I wish you happiness. I want you to smile.
