Joe Delagrave’s Professional Career

Prior to his rugby career, Delagrave was highly interested in active sports such as basketball and football. He met his life-changing event when he was 18 years old in 2004, which took away all of his aspirations and shifted her personal life in a completely other direction. Joe was normally enjoying his day on the river with pals when the boat abruptly flew backward and collided with his head. He was thrown off the boat and shattered his neck. He was paralyzed from the chest down as a result of this occurrence. Joe had grown up playing sports and was determined to find a way to live an active life despite his paralysis.

His search was ultimately stopped in 2006 when he learned about rugby, which inspired him to return to the field. Joe’s inner strength, ambition, and persistence inspired him to relaunch his Paralympic career. While performing for London 2012, he received a bronze medal. Joe is projected to make his comeback and realize his dream with Tokyo 2020. He has managed to overcome the ups and downs of his wheelchair rugby career while remaining at the top of the list of Paralympics. There was one thing that created the attitude of the fearless man in the year when COVID-19 elevated, and that was to preserve the basics and enhance the game over time.

Paralympics in Tokyo

Joe planned to use the year to improve himself and to use the year as a bonus to grow better. To prepare for Tokyo 2020, he focused on his flaws and bolstered his strengths. Joe worked on becoming a little stronger and faster than he was before. He picked up the positive spirit to finish his work so that he might attend the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020. Joe went to a couple of training camps before flying to Tokyo in 2020. His prospects of being chosen for the same were relatively good. He was now acting as co-captain for the team, which not only has hard-won Paralympic Games experience but also led the team to a gold medal at the Parapan American Games in 2019. Delagrave feels that the current team will undoubtedly lay a distinctive foundation in Tokyo 2020.

Accident

The Bible verse that was inscribed on his shirt that he used to wear inspired him to be active and functional after meeting the life-changing incident of his life. It says that if you trust in the Lord with all your heart and rely on your understandings, you will be able to quickly recognize or guide your course. That verse altered his life since he felt invincible at the age of 19 and attempted everything he could to put his energies back into it.
