Philippine government attorney John Albert Laylo was brutally assassinated on Saturday while riding in an Uber in Philadelphia. The 35-year-old prosecutor was on vacation in Philadelphia with his mother, Leah Bustamante Laylo, at the time of the incident, according to the New York Post. They were traveling to Philadelphia International Airport to catch a flight home to the Philippines.
At a press conference, Philadelphia authorities revealed to the media that a black sedan parked behind the victim’s vehicle at a stoplight and fired through the windows, injuring both John Albert Laylo and his mother.
According to Philippine Consul General Elmer Cato, both victims were brought to Penn Presbyterian hospital; John Albert Laylo for gunshot wounds, and his mother for glass shrapnel injuries.
