In the weeks preceding the election, the movie follows a young, tenacious journalist as she tries to discover a sinister conspiracy involving a presidential candidate.
The main character is portrayed by Jodie Turner-Smith, with key supporting roles played by Brian Cox and John Cena. Evan Parter authored it, and Amy Rice directed it. Politics-themed television shows like The Newsroom and House of Cards are thought to have impacted The Independent.
A few days ago, a first-look trailer for the movie was released, showing Brian Cox’s character, who appears to be Smith’s mentor and boss, and Turner’s character, Smith, engaging in a furious argument.
Cox’s character becomes upset and yells at Turner-Smith even though it appears that she took documents to expose a conspiracy. At first glance, viewers might understand the relationship between the two main characters and the main plot.

Fans may anticipate a gripping, journalistic thriller in the manner of Michael Mann’s The Insider, The Post, The Post by Steven Spielberg, All the President’s Men by Alan J. Pakula, The Newsroom by Aaron Sorkin, and The Post by Steven Spielberg.
Jodie Turner-Smith plays a journalist in The Independent who sets out to uncover a nefarious plan involving a presidential candidate. In the film’s first trailer, Turner-Smith looks terrific, and viewers can expect a standout performance from her.
Turner-Smith has been in numerous movies and TV shows throughout the years, including, to name a few: Nightflyers, Without Remorse, The Last Ship, and Jett.
Legendary Scottish actor Brian Cox co-stars alongside Turner-Smith as Nick Booker. In the first trailer, he represents Turner’s employer, Smith, and he sports a stunning appearance.
When Turner-Smith steals the papers to uncover a plot, Cox expertly captures his character’s disbelief and rage. Cox is expected to give the movie yet another superb performance. Manhunter (1986), Braveheart, Rob Roy, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and numerous other movies star Cox.
