John Eastman’s brother-in-law, Paul McCartney, recently paid tribute to him on social media following his death on August 9. According to the article,

“My lovely brother-in-law, John Eastman, has died.” “After almost 50 years of friendship, this is a very sad time for me and our families.”

John was described by McCartney as one of the sweetest and brightest men he had ever met. He went on to say that John helped him with business transactions as his lawyer and that everyone appreciated his sense of humor. The author went on to say,

“We shared so many good times over the years, but when it came to business, he was unbeatable.” There is so much more to say about his outstanding qualities, but words cannot express his zest for life or our affection for this magnificent man.”

John Eastman was The Beatles’ attorney, and his sister Linda Eastman was married to one of the band’s members, Paul McCartney. John represented the estate of painter Francis Bacon and the family of artist Willem de Kooning, according to his NYU School of Law profile. In 2004, he told NYU law students that they had the power to influence the things that mattered to them, as well as the courage not to be co-opted and to be themselves.
