On April 22, 1937, John Joseph Nicholson was born in Neptune, New Jersey. June Francis Nicholson, at the tender age of 17, became pregnant with Jack while performing as a showgirl. The true identity of his father has perpetually eluded discovery.

Before their passing, he mistook his grandparents, by whom he had been reared, for his biological parents. He presumed that June was his aunt.

Lorraine, who was sister to June, was erroneously recognized by him as his aunt. He was not made aware of his family’s secret until 1974 when researchers from Time magazine disclosed it to him.
