Rodriguez had played in the Yankees Minor League system for eight seasons before signing with the Cleveland Indians in 2005. Rodriguez had more time to play for the 2006 Cardinals. Rodriguez signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Rays on January 4, 2008, but did not make the main league team out of the spring training. Rodriguez was released on 2 June 2008.
