When Bernthal was apprehended, he just had one thought as he was chained up in a police station. When the drunken man opened his eyes, witnesses sided with Bernthal.
The inebriated man awoke, and Bernthal was helped by witnesses who told authorities that the inebriated man had harassed him. Nevertheless, Bernthal was sentenced to three years of probation and a $2 million civil judgment. But after that, the actor’s life was altered.
He sought anger management therapy and discovered how to leave when his emotions got the best of him. Bernthal said, “I now understand that life is more about working things out and avoiding violence.”
