The Walking Dead actor was in a bar when he saw his friends talking to two women. He decided to join them and goof around until he met his future bride. “I had never seen anybody so attractive,” Bernthal told Men’s Health. He made friends with the young nurse from Georgetown University Hospital, and they soon started dating.
As a young, naive 20-something, he “done a lot of terrible things,” and Angle dumped him and moved to San Francisco.
The actor would drive up to the Bay Area to retrieve her, leaving a bouquet and a poem in her car. He took Angle to see Nelson at the Fillmore once her fury had dissipated.
The actor sneaked backstage and wrote the musician a letter outlining his issue with his wife and asking for him and Angle to play “Always on My Mind.” Fortunately, Nelson did, and that evening they were reunited permanently.

The way his girlfriend responded, according to Bernthal, was to “pour love into [their] daughter every step of the way.” He gave his wife credit for saving the family from the situation. The actor told the magazine, “People talk about courage like it’s fake macho bravado, but my wife didn’t flinch. Thankfully, his daughter has totally recovered from the trauma.

Being a married father of three kids, Bernthal’s schedule is undoubtedly demanding. The actor claimed in an interview with Insider that he followed one rule to balance a demanding work schedule with time for his family. He made sure that whatever he was doing had his full attention. He didn’t work or use his phone at home with the kids.
He put his everything into his profession nonetheless, hoping that his kids would recognize how hard he worked. The actor said, “At the end of the day, I’m trying to create something in every character that I help design and every movie that I’m in. I try to dive in 100% and stay in it.
He continued by saying that the names of his children appeared on every piece of art he created. He, therefore, took everything seriously and gave everything he had. Bernthal, on the other hand, acknowledged that his wife was the one who made everything conceivable and works.
