Jonathan Capehart Refused To Go Out With Nick Schmit

Jonathan Capehart

The well-known journalist Jonathan Capehart is happily married. He and his spouse, Nick Schmit, have been married since their union on January 7, 2017. Schmit is a former assistant head of protocol for the State Department, for those who don’t know. The event was officiated by former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who purportedly had to stop several times to wipe away tears.

Holder, who presided over the brief ceremony and seemed surprised by himself, continued, “I don’t know how many marriages I’ve done. This is the first time I’ve ever cried while performing a ceremony.

At the time of their wedding, Capehart and Schmit had been dating for roughly six years, and they had been engaged for eight months.

Initially Refusing to Date His Future Husband, Jonathan Capehart

The New York Times claims that in the spring of 2010, Jed Hastings approached Capehart on a dating mission. Hastings is currently wed to Joe Solmonese, the former president of the Human Rights Campaign, which advocates for LGBT rights.

Hastings told the writer that Schmit, his sister-in-only-law’s relative, had recently moved to Washington. However, Capehart immediately brushed the idea aside because he was now seeing someone.

On the other side, Hastings persisted and contacted Capehart on Facebook six months later. Like every other journalist, the 54-year-old wanted a “picture” this time.

Once he noticed Schmit in the pictures and was satisfied with what he saw, the matchmaker introduced the two guys in a joint message. The Carleton College alumnus was impressed with Schmit’s command of English during their instant conversations, noting that he knew the difference between “your” and “you’re,” as well as “its” and “it’s.”

Schmit, however, was delighted to discover that the person he had seen on television was humble and affable.

Nick Schmit and Jonathan Capehart soon went on enjoyable dates

Capehart had first declined to go on a date with Schmit but then found himself in a situation where he had two dates in fast succession.

They talked about a range of topics on their dates, from their 13-year age difference to where they got their hair cut to swapping political opinions. Two years after they started dating, Capehart finally gave Schmit a key to his apartment.

Friends of Jonathan Capehart, presenter of The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart, enquired as to when he intended to pop the question to his partner when marriage equality became legal in the United States in 2015.

Soon after, Capehart paid a surprise visit to Schmit’s family at their lakeside cabin in Ottertail, Minnesota. In 2016, he then proposed in Positano, Italy.

Wedding specifics

Schmit allegedly read his vows first at his and Capehart’s wedding on January 7 at the Jefferson Hotel in Washington, D.C., promising to love his “best friend” “through the brightest and darkest days.” Then, as he took his vows, Capehart sang the song’s lyrics, “That’s All.”

I can only promise to be there for you anytime you call and to love you all time. You’ll be happy to know that my expectations are low, sweetie if you’re wondering what I expect in return. Say I’m the person you’ll always look up to. I’m done now. The journalist sang happily, “That’s all.” The couple is still happily married.
