Along with that, he gave the former a spinoff called Escape to the Perfect Town. Irwin is also an author, instructor, and expert in real estate and business. He started out working for Christie & Co. and Colliers International as a company transfer specialist.

A Health Update Regarding Jonnie Irwin’s Lung Cancer Diagnosis

Jonnie Irwin recently discussed his lung cancer. He was given the diagnosis in 2020, but only recently did he decide to talk about it. The venerable TV personality also said that the A Place In The Sun producers cut him from the show as soon as he let them know he was going to die.

He claims that despite knowing he wanted to continue, the management did not extend his contract after learning of his terminal lung cancer diagnosis and instead paid him off for the rest of the season. That hurt. My heart was broken by that. I’m really disappointed. I’ve stopped even watching the show,” Jonnie continued.

He had told the producers that he would present them with paperwork from his oncologist attesting to his suitability for employment. Despite saying that “no stone was left unturned” in their search for a way to let Jonnie stay, Freeform Productions and Channel 4 were unable to secure insurance.

Jonnie first thought something wasn’t right while filming the show in Italy. His vision clouded as he drove. Doctors informed him he had six months to live when he got back. Since 2004, he has hosted A Place in the Sun, and since 2010, he has appeared on Escape to the Country.

What’s become of Jonny Irwin? What’s his condition?

Currently, on leave, Jonny Irwin is spending time with his family. The real estate expert said to Hello Magazine earlier this month that he doesn’t know how much longer he has, but that he is trying to be “positive” by keeping in mind that he is “living with Cancer, not dying from it.” The 49-year-old’s ongoing discomfort is a result of chemotherapy-induced liver damage. He says he is unaware of how long he has left until lung cancer spreads to his brain.

He had the unpleasant burden of telling his wife, who was at home taking care of their children, about his ailment when he first discovered it. The father of three is also worried that his little sons would stop remembering him if he leaves. Being aware of his impending death makes it challenging for him to enjoy time with his family.
