He performed well overall, averaging 19.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.9 blocks. Hawkins averaged 5.8 points and 2 rebounds in 27 Huskies games as a rookie. His impressive achievements earned him Big East Conference All-Freshman honors. He missed crucial events due to a concussion late in the season.

Hawkins was the Huskies’ starting shooting guard in his second season. The 2023 NCAA tournament showcased Hawkins’ effect on the floor. In the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight, he averaged 22 points and 4 rebounds. Hawkins scored 16 points to help the Huskies beat San Diego State 76-59 in the national championship game.
