Josh Beckett was born in Spring, Texas, United States on May 15, 1980. MLB All-Star pitcher who helped the Florida Marlins defeat the New York Yankees in the 2003 World Series with a Game 6 shutout; also won a World Series Championship with the Boston Red Sox in 2007. He won a World Series ring with the Boston Red Sox in 2007, along with his teammate Manny Ramirez. He passed up a scholarship to Texas A&M University and signed his first professional contract with the Marlins.

Beckett was picked by the Marlins with the second choice in the 1999 MLB draft after a successful high school career in which he was regarded as one of the top prospects in the country. He was named the 2007 American League Championship Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the 2003 World Series MVP after winning the 2003 World Series with the Marlins and the 2007 World Series with the Red Sox. Beckett was dealt from the Marlins to the Red Sox in 2006 and then from the Red Sox to the Dodgers in 2012.
Beckett returned after missing the majority of the 2013 season due to a catastrophic injury. On May 25, 2014, he pitched a no-hitter for the Dodgers against the Philadelphia Phillies, becoming the 19th pitcher in Dodgers history to do it. However, due to an injury, his season was cut short once more, and he declared his retirement on October 7, 2014.
