Established in 2010, Julian Assange is a controversial figure best known for creating WikiLeaks, a website that disseminates secret and classified information from a variety of sources.
Julian Assange, is he Jewish or Muslim?
Regarding Assange, one of the most frequent queries is what religion he practices. Is he Jewish or Muslim? Neither is the response.
Assange has identified as a skeptic of organized religion and an atheist. Additionally, he has attacked the idea of a monotheistic God as an oppressive and dictatorial power.
Assange questioned Hassan Nasrallah, the head of the militant organization Hezbollah, which is headquartered in Lebanon, saying, “You have fought against the hegemony of the United States.”
“Since the concept of a monotheistic God is the ultimate superpower, shouldn’t one of your objectives as a freedom fighter be to liberate people from this oppressive idea?”
In response, Nasrallah said that it is a religious obligation to oppose American hegemony since morality derives from God and human ideals align with heavenly law.
Additionally, Assange has refuted any affiliation with Judaism, even in light of some assertions to the contrary. The New Statesman quoted him as saying, “I’m not Jewish and there’s no Jewish blood in my family.”
Julian Assange’s Origins and Ethnicity
Julian Paul Hawkins, the Australian surname Assange, was born in Townsville, Queensland, on July 3, 1971. John Shipton is a builder and anti-war activist, and his mother is visual artist Christine Ann Hawkins.
Before his birth, Assange’s parents divorced, and he didn’t meet his biological father until he was 25 years old.
His mother and her lover, Brett Assange, who gave him his surname, raised him for the most part.
When Assange was a child, his family relocated regularly, residing in more than thirty Australian locales. In addition to being homeschooled for a while, he attended other schools.
He became interested in computers and hacking at a young age, and in the late 1980s and early 1990s, he participated in several cyberattacks.
Despite being found guilty of hacking in 1996, he was given a light sentence. Assange is the father of four children from various partnerships.
At the age of 18, he wed Teresa Assange in 1989, and the two had a son named Daniel. 1999 saw their divorce.
Along with Sarah Harrison, a former WikiLeaks member who assisted him in fleeing to Ecuador’s embassy in London in 2012, he also has another son.
He has stated that he just holds his original citizenship and that he identifies as Australian.
He did, however, receive Ecuadorian citizenship in 2017, which was later revoked in 2021 when the country’s authorities withdrew his refuge.
